Dog adoptions are beneficial, especially with Arizona being number two on the euthanasia list.
Adoption has a variety of benefits from saving animals to saving money according to the humane society.
All breeds of dogs had every imaginable sort of background from being found on a golf course to being put the euthanasia list.
Adoption is what several dog owners try to promote. Adoption allows people to take care of pets and Lucky Dog recuse promotes that. Lucky Dog Rescue’s mission is to “rescue dogs off of the euthanasia list of high kill shelter”, according to Lucky Dog Rescue.
“Being in rescue is extremely difficult, there is a lot of stuff that you wish you could unsee”, said Dee Alschuler, the Director at Lucky Dog Rescue.
She continued to say that once you find a dog that was harmed and treated poorly in a home, it is “the greatest thing.”
Zeke, a seven month year old husky, is put up for adoption because the previous family could not care of him. They had several kids and weren’t able to give the dog the attention it deserves, said a husky owner. She continued to say that husky’s need to go on lots of walks and Zeke did not receive that.
Ezio, a dog who was is in need of adoption, is deaf. He was found on a golf course and Lucky Dog Rescue taught his sign language. His owners did not know sign language and had to learn it to communicate it with him, said his current owner.
Dogs appreciate the help adoptees put in. Not only do the dogs get taken care of, but the adoptees are helping out shelters, according to the Humane Society.
When adopting a dog from a shelter that leaves more room for the shelter to find more dogs to rescue.
Adopting dogs can also benefit the dogs because there is a lack of homes for dogs so it gives them a place to stay so they do not fall on the list of 8 million animals being euthanized each year.
Dogs also come from all backgrounds and ages when people adopt. When adopting an adult, the dog may already be trained and is less work for the owner, according to Pedigree.org.
There are a number of organizations that offer dogs for adoption such as Lucky Dog Rescue, Arizona Humane Society and Maricopa County Animal Care & Control.

Benefits to Adopting
According to an article by Pedigree.org six benefits to adopting a rescue are
"1. You save two lives."
"You give them a new life in a loving home and at the same time, you make room at the shelter for another pet in need of a second chance."
"2. You help break the cycle of pet overpopulation."
"There are not enough homes for all the animals that are born every year. More than 8 million animals are euthanized each year. Shelter and rescue pets are spayed and neutered."
"3. You get your choice of pets at any age."
"Adopting an adult dog who’s already house-trained and knows basic commands is often much easier than adopting a puppy. You will also be able to see the personality of the adult animal and won’t have any surprises down the road."
"4. You can choose from a great selection of animals, some purebred, some mutts."
"Based on the well-established principle of “hybrid vigor,” a mixed-breed animal is likely to live longer and cost less in vet bills than a pure breed. Many purebred dogs are prone to developing health problems ranging from breathing difficulties to hip dysplasia to an enlarged heart as a result of inbreeding."
"5. You support a valuable charity and community institution."
"When you adopt a pet from a shelter or rescue, you assist a not-for-profit organization and will send a message to others who will be asking you for years to come where you obtained your adorable pet."
"6. You pay less."
"Low adoption fees (which cover a portion of the costs for the care the shelter or rescue has invested in the health of their pets) are much less than the cost of purebred puppies or kittens sold for profit."
