La Gattara is Arizona's first and only cat cafe.
The cat cafe was started by Melissa Pruitt and who has always had a passion for rescuing cats. Cats are up for adoption all the time in her cat cafe and is a place for people to hang out with the cats, do homework, and participate in events such as different camps and bingo.
Unlike traditional shelters the cat cafe provides a positive environment for the cats in which they may roam the cafe freely and live their days happily while they wait to find their Furr-ever homes.
La Gattara also offers yoga classes every Saturday, otherwise know as "Caturday". These classes consist of normal exercises but the cats bring a calming energy. They allow people to center themselves and be grounded. Throughout the class, cat puns are used such as meowination or kittens pose. Make sure to check out the cat cafe if you are interested in adoption, hanging out with cats, or want to attend an event with cats.

Melissa "Missy" Priutt, Owner and founder of La Gattara"You can just come and hang out or you can come and adopt. The cool thing about it is that you come to know the cats and you don't feel obligated like if you go to a shelter and they are in a crate and you're like oh I feel bad I need to take this cat. Here they're living a pretty good life her obviously they would be so much happier in a home but you can come to know them and their personalities and connect that bond. "
In regards to the average adoption period of each of the cats Ms.Pruitt stated that it's "so different we've had a cat that got here yesterday and then we've had a cat that's been here for 429 days and then she got adopted and found her perfect home." |
Lauren Doyle, Yoga Instructor/Therapist at La Gattara's Caturday Yoga SessionsMy Favorite part about teaching yoga at La Gattara is,
"seeing all the cats that come in and then get homes because you build relationships with the ones that stay here longer so when they leave you're so happy but you're sad because you miss them because they are such sweet little fur-balls. But you get see them start their new lives." Ms. Doyle also states that "sometimes you see adoptions happen right in front of you and that' beautiful that you got to witness the meet thier new mom or dad and that's really sweet." |
